The road to Samurai spank plank started early 2000 when I started frequenting BDSM events and looking for company at various BDSM online forums. I had been interested in BDSM already early on in the 80s with few sex experiments during that time, and already early on I knew I wasn't meant for vanilla.

The adult stores at the time had very limited selection with poor quality and expensive prices. I started manufacturing items myself for my use, including bondage, whips, spanking tools, gags etc. I was experimenting with different materials, broom handles, bike tires, leather jackets, belts and such. Some of them were popular enough that I sold a few items online too.

At some point I had found a piece of specific plastic which I manufactured into my first spank plank. The first few prototypes were quite ugly, although still functional. Over some time I experimented with different materials, handles, finishes and eventually I found the combination that created the perfect balance for usability and visual style. The handle wrapping is inspired by a survival style machete I saw at a knife store. There was a lot of tears and sweat in the experimenting process but in the end the finished product is worth all the trouble. Now we're talking business, and the product was named "Savion Samurai" as at the time I was living in a city called Savio.

Over the years I would manufacture small batches of the Samurai to bring with me to various BDSM events. Not once I had to bring any back home, they always sold out. They were gaining popularity and fame at the events to the point that I got invited to many of them to bring more units for people to try, play with and in most cases purchase.

The real breakthrough happened when a new BDSM club opened in Finland and they used Samurai as one of the in-house products for people to use. Many users contacted the club to inquire where they can buy those, and sales started ramping up.

Now about 10 years after the first prototype, we're looking to broaden the sales beyond Finland by collaborating with a few select individuals in different countries. The material and process details have been shared with these individuals so that they can make the same quality products for different markets and ship locally in those countries.

At times there's custom requests for size or handles, and we're planning to expand the online store to include a few different versions, as well as options for custom requests. We're currently working on Samurai Mini and Samurai Mega versions to continue spreading the BDSM joy for all current and future users of The Samurai spank plank.
